January 23, 2009 - Week 2 of Starvation

As the "water weight" of most participants stabilize, Darn "The Rabbit" Non Coed has taken an unprecedented lead in just the second week, with nearly double the points of second place Team Fool Ambush. Rounding out the top three is Honks Evoke Irk, who went up after Nickname Whiny initially dropped like a 401k fund from 2nd place to 14th but then rebounded to 5th. The "Tortoise" of this story is No Crook, currently in last place.

The highest rising loser of the week is Retry Tech Remark, who rose from 23rd last week to 5th place.

Two participants, Hi Squid Bunny and Graven Crab Oath, are in 7th and 9th place respectively without the benefit of Bonus Points for having been in a previous contest. In addition to Retry Tech Remark, they are the only ones in the top ten without bonus points.

In a surprise strategy, Red Dawn Tater has gained points by increasing his weight in consecutive weeks. While many have accidently tried this stategy in the past, it remains to be seen if it is possible to win by gaining weight.

The other two participants with positive slopes besides Red Dawn Tater are I Harm Alibi and Rink Arm Fell.

So like it has been in the stock market, there were more losers than gainers, but in our case, that's a good thing.
