May 15, 2009 - Week 18 of Starvation

The calories have been counted, the results tabulated, and the website updated. The third BFLG Diet Contest is finally over.

Meal Urge Maniac won going away, with 18.5 lb (11.5%) weight loss. Wry No Bran broke out of the pack to be 1st Loser with 20.5 lb (9.2%), our only 20+ lb loser. He was followed close behind by Thy Error Bites (17.5 lb, 9.1%).

Cher Jonc En (15 lb, -8.4%) came in fourth, with Sneezed Rims In (16 lb, -8.0%) in fifth place. Special mention goes to Rad Dawn Tater at sixth place, who gained 10 lb (+5.8%), and still kept his BMI under 25.

The "skinniest" BFLG participant is Sneezed Rims In, with a BMI of 23.3. Meal Urge Maniac is the lightest by over 20 lb at 143 lb, and Danish As I is the heaviest at 299.5 lb. Wry No Bran at 203.5 lb is closest to the BFLG average of 199 lb.

Thy Error Bites and Wry No Bran never increased their weight, and had the best linearity (0.991 and 0.979 respectively). We all know who had the lowest linearity. The top five (as well as Graven Crab Oaths and Radon Ebbs) all met their weight goal.

Finally, the epic fall of Darn Non Coed must be given mention. He started the contest soaring like an eagle, until that fateful weekend at the Soaring Eagle Casino buffet tables. Darn Non Coed finished dead last, metaphorically lying in the diet gutter with Buffalo wild wings sauce dribbling from his chin. But while he finished last, at least he finished, unlike other BFLG participants who went AWOL after a few weeks. And that makes Darn Non Coed's giant bowl of ice cream at the Chinese buffet that much tastier.

So for those that have lost weight in the contest, enjoy the Memorial Day shutdown knowing you've started the summer season leaner than you were at the start of the year.

The rest can keep gaining weight getting ready for the next BFLG Diet Contest. I will help by taking the donations I received at the buffet and filling the candy jar on my desk. Please help yourself.
